Das ehemalige Fotomodell Karin Stilke, das in Deutschland einst zu den gefragtesten Modellen gehörte, ist tot. Sie starb am Donnerstag im Alter von 99 Jahren, wie ihr Lebensgefährte am Sonntag mitteilte. Mehr als 20 Jahre lang gehörte Stilke in den 30er bis 50er Jahren zu den gefragtesten deutschen Fotomodellen. Zahlreiche Bilder von ihr zierten damalige Modezeitungen wie “Dame” oder “Die Elegante Welt”. Stilke arbeitete mit bedeutenden Fotografen wie F. C. Gundlach, Sonja Georgi und Ilse Flöter zusammen. In der Hansestadt machte sie sich auch als Stifterin einen Namen.
Entdeckt wurde die junge Frau 1936 in Berlin. “Ich spazierte auf dem Kurfürstendamm an einem Café vorbei, als mich die Fotografin Yva ansprach und fragte, ob sie Aufnahmen von mir machen könne”, erzählte sie mal in einem Interview. Die junge Dolmetscherschülerin sagte zu und fand es “lustig”, sich kurz darauf in Modemagazinen wiederzufinden. 1937 reiste sie als erstes deutsches Fotomodell beruflich ins Ausland. “Am Strand des heutigen Dubrovnik nahmen wir Bademoden auf und hatten einen Heidenspaß.”
Im selben Jahr traf sie in Venedig auf Marlene Dietrich, mit der sie mehrere Tage verbrachte. Bei einem Fototermin in Berlin lernte sie Curd Jürgens kennen, mit dem sie “bis zu seinem Lebensende sehr gut befreundet war”. Reich seien die Models damals nicht geworden, aber zum Leben habe es gelangt, berichtete sie. Mit der heutigen Branche sei die damalige Modewelt nicht zu vergleichen. “Castings hat es nicht gegeben, die Leute sind damals zu mir gekommen”, erzählte sie. “Das war alles viel natürlicher damals, man schminkte sich selbst und bekam das Geld im Anschluss bar auf die Hand.”
